Fund-raising under way for mayoral hopefuls

The Daily News has an article about the fundraising activities of possible Mayoral hopefuls. Likely candidates include City Controller Jonathan Saidel, State Rep. Dwight Evans, and City Councilman Michael Nutter. Other possible candidates include Councilwoman Jannie Blackwell, Republican City Councilman Frank Rizzo, and our favorite champion of Unions, labor leader, John "Johnny Doc" Dougherty.

I just stumbled onto this site from PhillyFuture.org and I'm impressed. I'm curious - what do the Young Philly Politicos think of these candidates? who are each of you rooting for? who are you hoping doesn't run?

In my mind, there are three would be candidates I think could be a good mayor that have hinted so far: Michael Nutter, Chaka Fattah and Jim Kenney. I don;t think Kenney will run if Nutter does, and I don't know how a Fattah run affects Nutter's decision, so it bears watching.

Once in a while, Jonathan Saidel says or does something that I think seems smart, but, you generally do not hear too much from him or his office, so, I don't know.

Rather than disparage any other candidates, I just won't mention them.

I liker Nutter, and as a second choice, I like Sidel. At least he is funny, and I haven't really heard anything bad about him. I don't think that Kenney is going to run, but I like the little bit that I know about him.

As far as Fattah, I mean, he is my Congressman, he is on the Appropriations Committee, and I have no idea what he has gotten done. That doesn't bode well for him in my book.

Evans is a loser, and Johnny Doc is a crook.
